Humshakals- Dumb,dumber & dumbest

It is said by many a great filmmakers that the most daunting challenge for them is to make a movie which the audience finds hilarious. Comedy is one of the most popular genres among the Indian audience and it is no child's play to produce a film which can have the audience in splits.

We are shocked that after the tragedy of Himmatwala, there is still some ‘Himmat’ left in Sajid Khan to come up with another slapstick comedy. Known for his ‘leave-your-brain-at-home’ type of humor, Khan came up with yet another chaotic movie ‘Humshakals’ starring Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Ram Kapoor in triple roles and Bipasha Basu, Tamannah Bhatia and Esha Gupta as the leading ladies.
Why will the audience be interested to see the confusion on screen when they have lots in their life? Those who dared to watch Himmatwala, need not to be told. But for the ones who managed to stay away from the movie let me tell you do not spend your hard earned money on “Humshakals”. Reasons!!
First it’s Sajid Khan himself. This is the guy who claimed, Himmatwala would earn Rs 150 crore at the box office. In one of his interviews, he said ‘I know what the audience loves to see’ and after that he came up with Himmatwala. He is the one who have claimed that Himmatwala would be Ajay Devgn’s biggest hit and now he is back with Humshakals. The trailers are all over which shows only ‘confusion’ and more "confusions' in the film. The film is nowhere close to being a rib tickler. In fact, many have thrashed the movie left right and center on the social networking site Twitter. So hell yeah ! Humshakal is nothing less than a torture.
Secondly, we just can’t absorb that Humshakals is a tribute to comic legends like Kishore Kumar and Jim Carrey… even in the humblest way. Cause vulgarism was never a part of any Kishore Da films and Humshakals thrives on it. And if Sajid Khan thinks his latest venture is like Jim Carrey’s Dumb and Dumber then he is the dumbest. You can’t make a Hindi version of a Hollywood film which released 25 years ago that too in typical Bollywood style.
Third : Sajid Khan’s direction, Saif Ali Khan’s comedy – they  are not made for each other. Whenever Saif has tried comedy he has always fallen flat. He started with a comedy Aashiq Awara which was comedy! Be it ‘Nehle Pe Dehla’ or ‘Tashan’, he has failed to get the audience laugh with him. Even from the trailer, his weak comic timing is evident and that is not so ‘Wow’ (Saif style). We can’t bear Saif doing comedy for a single time. Adding to these triple roles of the three stars is sure to cause nine times of the irritation and torture.
Like to mention here that the first three movies of Sajid Khan (Heyy Babby, Housefull, Housefull 2) had Akshay Kumar as the lead and all were successful at the box office. Though all were trashed by the critics but their Box Office success made Sajid Khan what he is today. Sajid Khan has even declared Akshay Kumar as his lucky mascot but is silent on why is he missing from this one. May be it has something to do with sister Farah Khan’s Joker.
Fourth : The music of the film has failed completely. None of the songs have that ability to draw audience to the theaters. Most of the tracks remain at the average zone.
A comic film is supposed to make people laugh and not offend. But Jacqueline Fernandez’s ex-boyfriend doesn't get the point it seems.
“The biggest achievement of #Humshakals is that it has made even Himmatwala look like a blockbuster.”  – The above comment was posted by someone on Twitter. There are spoilers ahead, we would suggest you to come back to this write-up to share your views after you have watched (If you dare to) the film.
