Fishy Affair : Ilish/Hilsa

Finally!! With the rainy season in full swing, Bengal's beloved fish – Hilsa enters my kitchen.

Till now I was feeling like missing something this monsoon. For Bengalis Hilsa or Ilish holds a special place in their heart. The affection has gone to a point that Bengali restaurants hold “Ilish Utsav” or “Hilsa festival” in this season.

6 Ballygunge Place in Kolkata celebrates Hilsa Festival

To make this fish lot of ways are there, but first day I prepared Ilish Macher Kumro Jhol... a simple yet special preparation...The flavour of soft pumpkins blend with the fish makes it an exotic item to relish.
